Key takeaways
- Personal Great Eastern policyholders in Malaysia use e-Connect, a web portal, for policy details, statements, card payments, updates and claims.
- One Great ID, an email address with a password, signs you in to both e-Connect and the Great Eastern Rewards app.
- To link your policies, verify with your IC number plus date of birth and gender, or IC plus policy number, then a one-time password sent to the mobile number Great Eastern has on record.
- e-Connect locks an account after three wrong passwords; "Forgot Your Password" both resets the password and unlocks the account.
- The Great Eastern Corporate app is only for employees covered by a company group plan, with its own digital medical card and clinic finder.
Which Great Eastern app or portal do I need?
Most confusion comes from searching "Great Eastern app" and installing the wrong one. Start from who pays for your policy:
| Tool | Who it is for | Sign in with | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| e-Connect (web portal) | Personal policyholders | Great ID | Policy details, statements, card payments, updating details, claims, e-Medical Card |
| Great Eastern Rewards app | Policyholders and non-policyholders | Great ID | Rewards and policy services after you verify you are a policyholder |
| Great Eastern Corporate app | Employees on a company group plan | Its own account, registered with your policy details | Digital medical card, clinic and hospital finder, claims, online doctor |
| e-Medical Card guest login | Medical card holders | IC number and date of birth | Downloading the e-Medical Card without registering |
So if you bought your own life or medical policy, the main place is e-Connect, reached at econnect-my.greateasternlife.com. Great Eastern describes it on its e-Connect page. If your employer gave you a Great Eastern medical card at work, that card lives in the Corporate app instead.
Great ID: the one login for e-Connect and the Rewards app
Great ID is Great Eastern's single sign-in for its digital services. It is free and open to anyone; you only become a "policyholder" inside it after verification. Per Great Eastern's Great ID page:
- Open the Great ID screen in e-Connect or in the Rewards app and choose to register.
- Enter your name, a valid email address (this becomes your login ID) and a password.
- Confirm the code sent to that email.
- To link your policies, verify in e-Connect or on the Rewards app's "Me" page with your IC number plus date of birth and gender, or your IC number plus a policy number.
- Complete the CAPTCHA and enter the one-time password sent to the mobile number in Great Eastern's records.
Your policy number has 8 or 10 characters and is printed on your annual statement, policy schedule, renewal premium notice or payment receipt. Each email can hold only one Great ID, so use an email you will keep for years, not an old work address.
What can I do on e-Connect?
e-Connect covers almost every routine task, so you rarely need to visit a branch:
| Task | On e-Connect |
|---|---|
| See your cover | Benefits, premiums, up to 24 months of payment records, policy and fund values, payer, nominee, beneficiary and trustee details |
| Statements | Premium paid statements and e-invoices, annual statements, e-policy contracts and e-receipts |
| Pay | e-PAY by credit or debit card, and change your payment method or frequency |
| Update details | Address, phone, email, and bank account for direct credit |
| Service requests | Fund switch, partial withdrawal, survival benefit or cash bonus options, car registration number |
| Claims | Submit claims online and check their status |
| Medical card | Download the e-Medical Card |
Statements are kept for a limited time: premium paid and most annual statements for 5 years, survival benefit statements for 2 years and cash bonus statements for 7 years. For older ones, send a request through My Mailbox. Tax season tip: the premium paid statement is what you keep for your income tax relief claim, explained in my insurance tax relief guide.
Locked out of e-Connect, forgot the password or no OTP?
e-Connect locks an account after three unsuccessful login attempts. You do not need to call anyone to unlock it:
- Go to econnect-my.greateasternlife.com and click "Log in with Great ID".
- Click "Forgot Your Password", enter your Great ID email and complete the CAPTCHA.
- Enter the PIN sent to your email, then set a new password. This also unlocks the account.
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| OTP for verification does not arrive on your phone | Your mobile number on record is probably old: update it with the Great ID request form, emailed to wecare-my@greateasternlife.com for life policies |
| Email PIN does not arrive | Check spam or junk and add Great Eastern's email domain to safe senders |
| You are overseas | Login PINs go to your email, so they still work abroad with internet access |
| Pages do not load properly | Use Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari and clear the browser cache |
Never share a password or one-time password with anyone, including a caller who says they are from Great Eastern or from your agent's office. A real agent never needs your OTP.
The Great Eastern Corporate app for company medical plans
If your employer insures staff with Great Eastern, the Great Eastern Corporate app is your app. Great Eastern says it is for employees covered under its corporate insurance, and it offers:
- a digital medical card to show at the panel clinic or hospital;
- a finder for nearby panel clinics and hospitals;
- claims you can submit and track;
- online doctor consultations, which may cost something depending on your cover.
Register in the app with your policy details (it needs iOS 13 or Android 8 and above). It is separate from your personal policies: a company plan usually ends when you leave the job, which is a good moment to check whether your own medical card is enough. The guide to Great Eastern panel hospitals and clinics explains how personal medical cards are used.
Where I can help
I am a Great Eastern Life Planning Advisor in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, and this is an independent guide, not Great Eastern's website. Many of the policyholders I look after are parents who prefer someone to sit with them the first time. I can:
- walk you through Great ID and e-Connect so your policies, statements and e-Medical Card are in one place;
- read your policy details with you and explain what the nominee and trustee entries mean;
- help with service requests when the online route does not fit your case.
If your agent has left or stopped replying, your policy is still in force and you can ask for a new servicing agent; the Great Eastern policyholder guide shows how. WhatsApp me and I usually reply the same day.
