Key takeaways
- MyJPJ is the Road Transport Department's own app, with more than 14 million users, for roadtax, driving licence and JPJ summons services.
- Since 1 May 2026, MyDigital ID is the login for MyJPJ; JPJ encourages everyone aged 12 and above to register and activate it.
- JPJ suspended MyEG and Zetrix AI as collection agents from 12.01am on 5 October 2026, over RM314 million in collections not handed to the government.
- Roadtax can now be renewed in MyJPJ, on the JPJ public portal, at JPJ counters, kiosks, mobile counters, post offices and selected Puspakom outlets.
- JPJ only renews roadtax when the vehicle has active insurance of at least one year and the owner is not blacklisted by JPJ or PDRM.
- Private car owners have not needed to display a roadtax sticker since 10 February 2023; commercial vehicles still must display one.
What is MyJPJ and what can you do in it?
MyJPJ is the official mobile app of JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan, the Road Transport Department). It holds your digital roadtax, called LKM (Lesen Kenderaan Motor), and your digital driving licence, and it lets you pay JPJ summonses without queueing. According to Bernama (29 April 2026), the app had more than 14 million users, and the latest version added a guest mode, a 24 hour chatbot and the JPJeBid and JPJeQ number plate services in one place.
Many people only open MyJPJ when a police officer or a family member asks "when does your roadtax expire?". It is worth setting up properly now, because MyEG is no longer an option for JPJ payments.
| What you want to do | In MyJPJ? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| View your digital roadtax (e-LKM) and its expiry date | Yes | Also on the MySIKAP portal |
| Renew roadtax | Yes | Your insurance must be active first |
| View and renew your driving licence | Yes | Also at JPJ counters and post offices |
| Check and pay JPJ summonses | Yes | PDRM police summonses are checked separately |
| Bid for or book a number plate | Yes | JPJeBid and JPJeQ are now inside the app |
| Buy or renew car insurance | No | Done with your insurer or insurance agent |
That last row matters most. MyJPJ is where you pay JPJ, not where you buy cover. If your insurance has lapsed, the app cannot help you until a new policy is in place.

How do I register and log in to MyJPJ with MyDigital ID?
From 1 May 2026, JPJ moved MyJPJ to a single sign on with MyDigital ID, the national digital identity. In JPJ's words, users "will only need MyDigital ID as their primary authentication method". JPJ encourages all users aged 12 and above to register and activate MyDigital ID. For MyPR holders, JPJ said the old login method stays available through other designated channels.
- Install MyDigital ID. It is on the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. Register with your MyKad. If the app route does not work for you, you can register at a MyDigital ID kiosk, where your face is checked live against the National Registration Department (JPN) records.
- Install or update MyJPJ from the same app store. An old version is the most common reason the login fails.
- Open MyJPJ and choose to log in with MyDigital ID. The MyDigital ID app opens and asks you to approve the login.
- Check your details. Your licence, vehicles registered under your IC and any JPJ summonses should appear.
| Who you are | How you log in to MyJPJ |
|---|---|
| Malaysian aged 12 and above | MyDigital ID (since 1 May 2026) |
| MyPR holder | Existing login method, through channels JPJ designates |
| No smartphone, or prefers not to use the app | JPJ counter or post office; the app is not compulsory |
If you are helping an elderly parent, sit with them while they register MyDigital ID, because the face check needs the person themself. Do not keep their login on your own phone.
MyEG no longer renews roadtax: where do I renew now?
On 2 October 2026 JPJ announced that MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd, both in the MYEG Group, were suspended as JPJ collection agents from 12.01am on 5 October 2026 (The Star). On 22 October, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said services had continued without disruption, that many people had switched to MyJPJ, and that the companies must first settle over RM314 million in unremitted government revenue before JPJ would consider letting them resume (The Star).
| Service | Official channels after 5 October 2026 |
|---|---|
| Roadtax (LKM) renewal | MyJPJ app, JPJ public portal, JPJ counters, JPJ kiosks, mobile counters, post offices, selected Puspakom services |
| Driving licence renewal | MyJPJ app, JPJ public portal, JPJ counters, kiosks, mobile counters, post offices |
| Summons check and payment | JPJ official channels, including MyJPJ |
| Computerised theory test (KPP01) | Bookings made through MyEG before 5 October stay valid; new bookings at KPP test centres in driving institutes |
What this means for you: if you used to renew through MyEG out of habit, nothing is lost. Your roadtax record sits with JPJ, not with MyEG. Simply use one of the channels above next time. If your insurance agent renewed your roadtax together with your insurance, ask them which channel they now use.
How do I renew roadtax in MyJPJ? Insurance comes first
The government portal MyGOV lists three conditions before JPJ renews a roadtax. Check them before you open the app.
| Condition | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Active vehicle insurance, at least 1 year | Renew your car insurance first; the new policy must already be in force for the roadtax period |
| PUSPAKOM or PPKM inspection, for certain vehicles | For example commercial vehicles such as lorries, and some vehicles over 10 years old |
| Not blacklisted by JPJ or PDRM | Settle old summonses first, or the renewal will be blocked |
- Renew your car insurance with your insurer or insurance agent, and check that your NCD has carried over.
- Wait until the new policy shows against your vehicle, then open MyJPJ and log in with MyDigital ID.
- Choose the roadtax renewal service, select your vehicle and the period, and pay online.
- Open your e-LKM in MyJPJ and confirm the new expiry date. Take a screenshot for your records.
Worked example (assumptions, for illustration only)
| Assumption or step | Example |
|---|---|
| Vehicle | Private car, registered under your own IC, not commercial |
| Insurance and roadtax expiry | Both on 30 November 2026 |
| Summonses | One unpaid JPJ summons from earlier in the year |
| Step 1, early November | Pay the summons in MyJPJ so there is no blacklist |
| Step 2, mid November | Renew the insurance, starting 30 November |
| Step 3, after the policy is recorded | Renew the roadtax in MyJPJ and check the new expiry date |
The order is the point of the example: summons, then insurance, then roadtax. Doing it the other way round is why many people get stuck on the last day. If you are unsure about your NCD, see my guide on how to check your NCD online, and for summonses, my JPJ saman check guide.
MyJPJ not working? Common problems and mistakes
JPJ's own MyJPJ FAQ gives these steps when you cannot log in with MyDigital ID:
- Update MyJPJ to the latest version.
- If it still fails, uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Before logging in again, check that your internet connection is stable, your phone's date and time are set to automatic, no VPN is switched on, and the phone has enough storage.
- If the problem continues, contact JPJ technical support through the FAQ page. For MyDigital ID itself, the MyDigital ID helpdesk is +603 8687 2772.
Other mistakes I often see:
- Thinking the app replaces renewal. The digital roadtax still expires. Since 10 February 2023 private vehicle owners do not need to display the sticker, but the roadtax must still be renewed.
- Assuming every vehicle is sticker free. MyGOV states the sticker is not required except for commercial vehicles. Lorry and van owners should keep displaying it.
- Panicking at a roadblock without internet. When the rule started, the minister explained that officers can check roadtax and licence status on their own system, and that not being able to show it on your phone is not an offence (Malay Mail).
- Car registered under a company. The vehicle may not appear under your personal IC. The registered owner or their representative has to renew it.
- Insurance renewed but roadtax still refuses. Usually the new policy has not reached JPJ yet, or there is a blacklist. Check both before paying again.
Want your insurance and roadtax renewed together? How I can help
MyJPJ is good for paying JPJ. What it does not do is look at your cover: whether your sum insured still matches your car's value, whether your NCD carried over, whether you need windscreen, flood or special perils cover, or whether a family member who drives your car is protected. That is the part I help with.
I am Lulu, a Great Eastern agent serving families and business owners in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, including Seri Kembangan, Serdang, Puchong and Cheras, in Mandarin, English and Cantonese. For cars, e-hailing vehicles and lorries, I can arrange the insurance renewal and the roadtax together, so you do not have to worry about the order of steps above.
- WhatsApp me your car plate and your current expiry date, and I will remind you before both are due.
- If you prefer to renew roadtax yourself in MyJPJ, I will tell you when the new policy is ready so the app accepts it.
- See my car insurance and roadtax renewal service and my step by step guide on how to renew roadtax in Malaysia.
No hard selling. Ask your question on WhatsApp first and decide in your own time.
